Fusible links
Fuseable link wire has a slow blow charactistic and is ideal in circuits as the primary fuse protection such as those found at power sources like batteries, alternators, chargers and other primary distribution points.
The wire can run at its maximum rated current at long duty cycles and where the main purpose is to act as a failsafe to short circuits as opposed to short duration minor overloads which would be better handled by faster acting protection devices such as circuit breakers or fast blow fuses.
